What Sold This Week

This was a thin week. No current marketplace sale reached the database. All 71,690 new rows are historical domain sales from DNJournal's weekly reports for 2009–2014. None of them has a profit figure, so none of them changes a multiple, and every median below is the same as last week. +71,690 added, −0 retired, +71,690 net. The database now holds 126,873 sold deals, and 126,094 of them are domains.

01

Multiples watch

This table shows the median profit multiple (sold price ÷ trailing-twelve-month profit) for each asset type, across all 126,873 sold deals in the database as of 2026-10-12. We publish a median only when at least five comps carry both numbers. "Last week" means the 2026-41 edition.

Asset typeMedian profit multipleLast weekComps behind itSold deals tracked

content 1.35× 1.35× 129 217

ecommerce 0.16× 0.16× 140 241
other 0.04× 0.04× 39 96

Nothing moved. The five medians, comp counts and tracked counts are all the same as last week, and 411 comps still carry a profit multiple. Three asset types have no median because none of their deals has a profit figure: domain (126,094 sold deals tracked, 0 with a profit figure), newsletter (4, 0) and community (3, 0).

Why there are no current sales

We also check They Got Acquired, Microns, eNaming and Hacker News every day, and none of them added a sale inside the window. So this week has no "sold this week" list. The section below is archival price evidence, not this week's market.

Added from the archives

This week added 71,690 domain sales from 279 DNJournal reports, by report year: 11,587 from 2009, 11,778 from 2010, 13,021 from 2011, 12,812 from 2012, 12,907 from 2013 and 9,585 from 2014. 314 of the 2014 rows are dated 4 January 2015, because the last 2014 report's period ends on that day. Each row's date is the end of the report's stated period. That is when the sale was revealed, not when it closed. The median price is $2,588, and the lot totals $487.9 million. Sedo is the venue on 35,760 of the rows.

The lowest price is a $2 row for sunmortgage.com. The source page prints that figure as "$2," with the rest of the number missing, so it is not a real price. It is open as #291. Every other row is $1,000 or more. The largest six:

  1. Sex.com — domain · period ending 14 Nov 2010 · Sedo

What the week's data says

By sale-date year, the median reported price was about flat from 2009 to 2013: $2,500, $2,550, $2,500, $2,588 and $2,600. It was $2,985 in 2014. Last week's batch had medians from $2,800 for 2015 to $3,807 for 2018. We have not checked whether DNJournal's reporting changed over those years. Read this as what the reports contain, not as proof of a price trend.

Domains are now 126,094 of 126,873 rows (99.4%, up from 98.6% last week). For every asset type that can produce a multiple, the medians above rest on the same evidence as a week ago, and our calculator uses the same 411 comps. What a profit multiple actually means. This describes what our 126,873 rows contain. It is not a forecast.

How this edition was counted

The window is the 7 days to 2026-10-12. We paged the deals feed to the end: 71,690 rows across 72 pages, which matches the 71,690 the feed reports as the window total, with 0 retirements inside it. +71,690 added, −0 retired, +71,690 net. The whole-database total went from 55,183 to 126,873, which is the same +71,690. All 71,690 rows are source dnjournal_sales, asset type domain. The $2,588 price median is the middle pair (35,845th and 35,846th) of 71,690 sorted prices. Both values are $2,588.
