ExitComps Sold comps for micro-acquisitions

Weekly digest · 28 Sep – 5 Oct 2026

What Sold This Week

A thin week. No current marketplace sale reached the database. Every one of the week's 23,657 new rows is a historical domain sale from DNJournal's 2015–2018 weekly reports. None carries a profit figure, so none moves a multiple, and every median below is unchanged from last week. +23,657 added, −0 retired, +23,657 net; the database stands at 55,183 sold deals, 54,404 of them domains.

Multiples watch

Median profit multiple (sold price ÷ trailing-twelve-month profit) per asset type, across all 55,183 sold deals in the database as of 2026-10-05. Published only where at least five comps carry both numbers. Change is against the 2026-40 edition.

Nothing moved: all five medians, comp counts and tracked counts are the same as last week. 411 comps carry a profit multiple, as they did on 2026-09-28. Not published, for want of any profit figure at all: domain (54,404 sold deals tracked, 0 with a profit figure), newsletter (4, 0) and community (3, 0).

02

Why no current sales

The other sources we check daily (They Got Acquired, Microns, eNaming and Hacker News) added nothing inside the window either. So this week has no "sold this week" list. The section below is archival price evidence, not this week's market.

Added from the archives

23,657 domain sales from 189 DNJournal reports: 7,491 dated 2015, 6,497 in 2016, 5,007 in 2017 and 4,255 in 2018. Another 194 are dated 6 January 2019, because the last 2018 report's period ends then. The remaining 213 are dated 2020: a parser fix recovered these foreign-currency rows from reports collected earlier. Median $3,257, range $1,000 to $8,888,888, $242.5 million across the lot. Sedo is the venue on 13,916 of them. Each row's date is the end of the report's stated period, when the sale was revealed, not when it closed. The largest six:

What the week's data says

The median reported price rises each year in this batch: $2,800 for 2015, $3,310 for 2016, $3,499 for 2017 and $3,807 for 2018. Every year's floor is the same $1,000. We have not checked whether DNJournal's reporting changed across those years, so read this as what the reports contain, not as proof that domain prices rose.

The bigger fact is about the database. Domains are now 54,404 of 55,183 rows (98.6%, up from 97.5% last week). For every asset type that can produce a multiple, nothing new came in this week, so the medians above rest on exactly the evidence they rested on a week ago. Our calculator reads from the same 411 comps. What a profit multiple actually means. This is what our 55,183 rows contain, not a forecast.

How this edition was counted

The window is the 7 days to 2026-10-05. The deals feed was paged to the end: 23,657 rows collected across 24 pages, matching the 23,657 the feed reports as the window total, with 0 retirements inside it. +23,657 added, −0 retired, +23,657 net, and the whole-database total went 31,526 → 55,183, which is that same +23,657. All 23,657 rows are source dnjournal_sales, asset type domain. The $3,257 price median is the 11,829th of 23,657 sorted prices.
